history

As can be seen from the Home Page of the website, the Company was formed in 1969 by Robert Morgan, Managing Director. During the years the company has progressed to become one of the largest in the area.

Like many companies in the Forest of Dean much of the expansion was centred around the development of the Rank Xerox factory in Mitcheldean which at one time employed over 5,000 people.

The closure of the coal mines in the area produced a tremendous surge of activity in the Forest with not only Rank Xerox, but Beechams in Coleford, Temco in Cinderford and Lydmet in Lydney all having big expansion programmes.

Morgan Electrical Services was heavily involved with all of these activities.

As time progressed the company became a major contractor for Gloucestershire County Council, being involved in a number of school projects in and around the area. School work is still a major part of the company's business.

Major projects that the company has also been involved with are shown below:-

  •    Whitecross School Swimming Pool
  •    Forest of Dean Gymnastics Centre at Lakers School
  •    Forest of Dean Fitness Centre, Cinderford
  •    Stroud Indoor Bowls Club

  •    Floodlighting Lydbrook & Ross-on-Wye Parish Church
  •    Floodlighting Berry Hill Rugby Club
  •    Severn Trent Water - Mythe & Mitcheldean Water Treatment Works
  •    Richard Read Transport Ltd.

The company has travelled to Europe on many occasions carrying out work for Hitachi Zosen in car plants in Hungary, France and Spain, as well as car plants in Derby, Coventry and Washington.

Haigh Engineering at Ross-on-Wye have used the company for many years to install specialist Sewage Treatment equipment all over the UK.

The company continues to work for local clients with Vantage Business Village at Mitcheldean being one of their major clients.

Over the years the company has gained accreditation with the following - NICEIC, ECA, CHAS, NQA, Trust Mark and have just recently been awarded "preferred" status with Moss Construction.
